The Sprinkler by Melissa Temsook-Boeker at Atlas Oyster House. / Katie Kingemail@example.com
Well, it’s official: It’s hot. Not “break out the tank tops and flip on the fan” warm, but “crank up the AC, I’m not going outside unless there’s water involved” hot!
Living in Florida, most of us are prepared for this kind of steaming weather because we know it will be this hot for quite some time. We’ve got the beach, pools and central air. Growing up in Baltimore, though, summer didn’t get this hot until late June, and really only stayed this hot until mid-September. For that reason, no one really invested that much in keeping cool.
As a kid, I remember battling my sister for the sweet spot in front of the fan, and on the weekends, when all the adults were relaxing in the shade on the porch, all the kids were running through the sprinkler.
So, as the temperature outside rises, I am giving you a cocktail that will help you beat the heat. Even if you can’t run through the sprinkler in real life, hopefully you can sip this drink and run through it in your head.
1 ounce Stoli Sticki honey-flavored vodka
1 ounce St. Germain liqueur
½ ounce fresh lemon juice
2 ounces citrus soda (Sprite or 7-Up)
2 ounces club soda
Combine all ingredients over crushed ice in a tall glass. Garnish with fresh flowers or a lemon twist and bring on the cool.
